The Pantheon
The people of the Lands of Former Nerath worship a Pantheon of six Gods and Goddesses with varying amounts of devotion. The six represent the balance of all things in the world. As such, while it is not uncommon for one to devote oneself to one deity in particular, most acknowledge the interdependent nature of the deities and call on the appropriate God or Goddess as required for the applicable situation.
The religious center of the Former Lands is in Cathedral, a massive single-structure city where the Bishops of the Ministry of the Pantheon of each deity reside and hold services and sermons.
All this is true in every case except for Thanaset.
Belias
Often depicted as a Human or a Gnome, and associated with the colour red. His followers reference him with the symbol of a single candle flame.
Auril
Often depicted as an Elf or a Loxodon, and associated with the colour blue. Her followers reference her with the symbol of a single curving wave.
Moradin
Often depicted as a Dwarf or a Gnome, and associated with the colour yellow. His followers reference him with the symbol of a simple hammer.
Melora
Often depicted as an Elf or a Tortle, and associated with the colour green. Her followers reference her with the symbol of a branch with two small leaves.
Senelos
Often depicted as a Dwarf or a Loxodon, and associated with the colour white. His followers reference him with the symbol of two interconnecting waving lines.
Thanaset
Often depicted as a Human or a Tortle, and associated with the colour black. Her followers reference her with the symbol of a net.
About one hundred years ago, a schism led to Thanaset worship being forbidden and her followers declared outlaws. Despite this, Cults of Thanaset are known to exist in the dark corners of the land despite being forever hunted by the Ministry and the relentless Ordo Sororal.
The party has discovered that Thanaset has disappeared, and the other Gods believe that she has been kidnapped. Her being unable to perform her duties for the dead has lead to the appearance of the Shadows, hostile creatures composed of the souls of the dead that are unable to proceed to rest peacefully in the afterlife.
